Description
This is an LGB 21872 G Scale Pennsylvania Railroad 2-8-2 Steam Locomotive and Tender with Sound. It features plastic construction, latch like couplers, a powerful motor, attractive painting, a durable plastic shell, separately applied details, metal wheels, and operating lights.
Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the “Mikado” found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.
