Description
This is a Lionel 2625 Vintage O Lionel Lines Madison Heavyweight Irvington Passenger Car from 1948 to 1950. This one has the tape around the electro coupler coil without silhouettes from 1949. The 2625 Pullman Passenger Car is part of the Madison-style passenger car series. This term — Madison-style — was not used by Lionel in its catalogues or literature, but was created by Lionel enthusiasts during the postwar era. To this day, the Madison-style passenger cars remain in demand by collectors and operators. It features opening doors, a strong bakelite body, an illuminated interior, clear window strips, 6-wheel plastic sided trucks with metal wheels and axles and operating electro-couplers and is 15 inches long. The Madison cars were Lionels top of the line passenger cars in the 1940s.
