Here is a Lionel 3854 Vintage O Pennsylvania Operating Merchandise Car – Black Doors -RARE from 1946-47. This very scarce car, based on the prewar 2954, contains the same operating mechanism found in the more common 3454 Merchandise car. The 3854 is one of the few scale-sized cars made by Lionel in the Postwar Era. The length of the 3854 required it to have a special truck with two slide shoes on each truck so that the car could work on regular RCS/UCS operating sections.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good based on visual appearance. There are some cracks to the shell. One of the trucks is bent, so the car leans to one side. One of the screws to the side panel is missing and needs to be replaced. There are spots of missing paint and the door rails have some rust on them. The operating door is stuck open. There are some nicks and scratches to the shell and chassis. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included.
