Description

Here is a Lionel Prewar 512 Standard Gauge Tinplate Gondola from 1927-39. This gondola came first in peacock, then in green. The late green version is harder to find. The early cars came with curved wine-type barrels, later cars came with drum-type barrels. The 512 gondola is extremely common. Features include all tinplate construction, tinplate trucks with journals, latch couplers, metal wheels and axles.

This gondola car shows scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. This gondola car shows rust on the chassis, trucks, wheels, axels, and couplers.
