Here is a Lionel 1661 Rock Island Line starter set from 1976-77. This was one of Lionel’s basic starter sets from this period. It includes a 8601 engine and tender, 9033 Penn Central Gondola, 9020 Flatcar, and 9078 Caboose, canisters, 8 sections of curved track, 2 sections of straight track, and transformer. Features include Pullmor motor, E-Z Fit track, needle point bearings, realistic couplers, safety plug and circuit breaker, and metal wheels.

These items have been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. This item does not pick up power or run on the test track and is being sold As-Is. These cars show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. These cars show spots of rust on the chassis and trucks. The front trim piece of the locomotive is missing. These sections show spots of rust on the rails. Various sections show scratches and nicks on the roadbeds. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The overall appearance of each item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is not included.
