This is a Lionel 6-8406 O New York Central Diecast Hudson 4-6-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender #783 from 1984. This was the first modern era reissue of the famous Scale Hudson and is very similar to the 1964 version of the Postwar Era 773. It features a diecast boiler, an open frame motor, Magnetraction, an operating smoke unit with smoke puffing from steam chest, and an operating headlight, and an electronic whistle and Sound of Steam. The tender has 6-wheel trucks and also features a diecast shell and is the same style as the postwar 2426.

Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This locomotive has several operational issues and runs very poorly. The locomotive is being sold As-Is. The tender is missing all of its wheels and mounting bearing strips. The locomotive motor, smoke, and light are non-functional. Reversing unit acts inconsistently and only attempts to move the motor in one direction. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
