Description

This is an MTH 20-1117-1 Chesapeake and Ohio ALLEGHENY 2-6-6-6 Articulated Steam Locomotive with ProtoSound 1.0. Features include 2 precision flywheel equipped motors, DCRU electronic reverse, electronic whistle, diecast metal construction, operating headlight, operating ProtoSmoke, detailed cab interior, diecast metal sprung trucks, diecast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles, and a real coal load on tender. It weighs over 12 pounds and measures approximately 27-3/8″ long. The cab number is 1604.

This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.

Brought to rail-yards in 1941 the 2-6-6-6 was featured in two classes the “Allegheny” and Blue Ridge” — both of which were some of the most powerful models ever introduced up that point setting new heights for both weight and speed. Both classes were named after the mountain range they traversed, and were often used for hauling coal around and throughout the mountains. These locomotives has stood the test of time with a couple featured in museums, and even serving as the inspiration for some beloved train characters like “Sam” from ‘Thomas and friends!”

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The smoke fluid and spare traction tires are not included. A layer of shelf dust has settled onto the locomotive and tender. These items show some scratches and spots of paint loss on the shell and chassis. These items are in excellent overall condition, free of broken trim pieces. These items show some signs of light previous use. This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.
