Features include two precision flywheel equipped motors, ProtoSound electronic reverse unit, remote controlled ProtoCouplers, ProtoSound, all-metal wheels and gears, diecast trucks, truck sides, pilot and fuel tank, a lighted cab interior with an engineer figure and a detailed ABS body. It operates on O-31 track.

This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The wheels and rolling pickups show signs of average use. There are light rub marks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. There is zinc pest on the trucks and wheelsets. One of the detail pieces is broken off.
